Configure a Search

You can create a search to group multiple search terms and control how they behave in the webshop.

Prerequisites​

Before you start, make sure you first select the correct language before creating any search configuration

Search terms are collected automatically from your visitors' search behavior. You can see the most searched terms in Search & Navigation > Search Management on the Top Searches tab (in CloudSuite Admin). Go to the Search Configurations tab to see which terms you have already configured.

You can start a new configuration in two ways:

  • On the Top Searches tab, click on the + [term] button under Configure to open the Configure a search screen for that term.

On the Search Configurations tab, click + Add Search to create a new configuration, or click Edit next to an existing one.

Add Synonyms​

  1. In Add search term, type the first search term and press Enter.
  2. Repeat for each additional synonym you want to add to the group.

Searching any of the terms in the group will return the same results.

Set Synonym Ranking​

Choose how products are ordered when a visitor searches for one of the terms in the group.

  • Select Rank exact search terms higher than synonyms if you want products that contain the exact word the visitor typed to appear first.
  • Select Rank search terms and synonyms equally if you want all terms in the group to return products in the same order.

Set Up Search Term Replacement (Optional)​

Use search term replacement to define which terms the search engine actually uses when a visitor searches for this term. Enable the toggle and add your replacement terms.

Set Up Search Term Exclusions (Optional)​

Use search term exclusions to hide products containing specific words from the results. Enable the toggle and add your exclusion terms.

Preview Your Configuration​

Use the Search preview panel on the right to check your results before publishing. Switch between terms in the Related search terms selector to see how results differ per term.

Publish​

Click Publish to make your configuration active in the webshop. Click Save Draft to save without publishing.

The configuration is now active in the webshop and applies to all terms in the group.
