PIM Types

PIM types define how products are structured. You use them to set a default product name, assign attributes, and manage translations for multiple products at once.

To manage PIM types go to PIM > Product PIM Types in the CloudSuite App. The overview shows all existing PIM types. Double-click a PIM type to edit it, or click New to create a new one.

General

• Enter the Name of the PIM type. This name can be shown to webshop visitors, and can be translated.
• If Custom Slug is checked the field Slug becomes editable to set a custom URL of product pages that are created using this PIM type. By default, this box is not checked and the URLs are based on the PIM type's name. If you check the box, the field Slug becomes editable. This can be translated.
• You can specify a Responsible User, who is responsible for maintenance of the products linked to this type.
• Sets of attributes defines which attribute sets are assigned to products of this type.
  These attributes become available when editing a product.
• Featured Attributes, defines which attributes are highlighted (featured attributes.) for products of this type.

Advanced

If Generate product Name is checked, names for products of this type will be automatically generated. The other fields in the tab are visible only if this box is checked.

• Start name with, defines the fixed prefix for generated product names.
  You can include variables:
  • [brand] replaced with in the generated name with the product's brand, and
  • [pdm_type] will be replaced with the PIM type name.
• Properties for Name defines which attributes are included in the generated product name.
  The system appends the values of these attributes to the generated name.
• If Translate the Product name is checked, you can add the list of Languages for which translations must be available. When you are done, click Process Translations to update all the product names.
