Search Configuration

A piece of software named Sphinx is used to index your webshops so that your customers can search for products. Its behavior is directed through a number of settings, many of which can be specified in the CloudSuite App.

To specify the search configuration, in the CloudSuite App go to Marketing > Search and Navigation > Configuration.

Sphinx server settings

This tab contains settings that are directly passed on to the Sphinx indexing process.

  • Setting a Minimum Infix Length greater than zero allows for searching on text appearing in start, middle and end positions. The software will index all the possible substrings of that length and up in addition to the keywords themselves. Note that this will make the index bigger and therefore, have a negative effect on both indexing and search times.
  • You may specify a list of Ignored Characters (separated by spaces) that are completely ignored by the indexing process, as if they were not there. For example, by default the - character is seen as a separator and "abc-def" will be indexed as the keywords "abc" and "def". If you specify that - must be ignored, the same text will be indexed as a single "abcdef" keyword.
  • You may specify a list of Accepted Characters Table Additions (separated by commas) that are added to Spinx's characters table. For more information, refer to the official Sphynx documentation.

Search settings

This tab contains settings specifically related to your CloudSuite webshop.

  • If Skip Out of Assortment is checked, out-of-stock products will not be included in search results.
  • If Group Variants is checked, products will be grouped in the search results by the attributes set on the variant. You can then also choose a Group Variants Type to determine how exactly grouping takes place.
    • Choose Next to each other to display variants next to the highest found one.
    • Choose Standard (unique search) to treat a variant as a separate product.
    • Choose Grouped (always, ignores unique search attributes) to group variants. The preferred product of the variant is shown regardless of the selected attributes.
    • Choose Grouped (not for unique search attributes) to group variants. The preferred product of the variant is shown, unless a unique filter was selected and the filtered results are shown.
  • You may enter a Regex product code, which is a regular expression that, if a search matches it, disables the distinction of variants as well as suggested search terms. For example, to disable these two features for product codes that contain only numbers, you would specify ^[0-9]$.

Recommendations

If you use the Relevance & Recommendations module, this tab lets you specify the Number of months of sale line history that will be taken into account when presenting recommendations.
