Managing Digital Assets
The Digital Asset Manager (DAM) is an integral part of the CloudSuite Admin, allowing you to the organize and manage all images, videos, and other digital assets. These assets are mostly used in widgets but they are available across the entire shop, allowing for a cohesive and integrated user experience.
In the CloudSuite Admin, go to DAM > Media > Media Files to see the DAM Overview. This shows all the assets that you have already uploaded and that you can use in your shop.
Creating Sub-folders
To organize your files, you may want to create subfolders within the DAM. Subfolders can be nested: you can create subfolders within subfolders, at any depth that you need. To create a subfolder, click in the sidebar to the left on the parent folder to open it. Then open the NEW menu and select Folder.
Adding Assets
You cannot add an asset to the DAM if its file size is greater than 10MB.
There are two ways to upload asset files into the DAM.
- One method is to open the NEW menu and select File.
- You can also upload assets by dragging from your file manager (such as Windows Explorer) and dropping them on the overview or into a folder in the sidebar. Your file will be instantly uploaded.
Deleting Assets
To remove an asset from the DAM, click the three dots in the top-right corner and select Move to trash.
You can also remove an asset through its Details screen (see below).
If you remove an asset, it is not completely deleted but rather moved to trash. You can open the trash near the bottom of the sidebar to the left of the DAM. Then, you can either restore or permanently delete a trashed asset using the menu that opens when you click the three dots in the top-right corner.
To permanently delete all contents of the trash, click EMPTY TRASH in the top-right corner
Asset Details
Open the asset's Details screen by selecting Edit from the menu that opens when you click the three dots in the top-right corner, or simply by double-clicking. The file details are shown, as well as an option to Move to trash.
Furthermore, you can resize the image, or set its focus point.
Resizing an Image
You can provide images in different sizes. To do so, open the image details and click the + Add Size button on the right. Then enter the Width and Height of the new version of the image and click ADD.
The original image remains unchanged: the resized image will be added below the original one.
Setting a Focus point
You can let the DAM automatically crop and resize an images in the correct dimensions based on a so-called focus point, so that the marked area will always stay in focus. To do so, open the image details and click the SET FOCUS POINT button. A 'target' is superimposed on the image: drag this to the most important part of the image and click SAVE FOCUS POINT.
A preview is shown of the changed image in all the defined sizes, and the button is now labeled EDIT FOCUS POINT. The next time that the DAM Overview is loaded, a small 'target' icon in the top-right corner will show that a focus point has been set.
You can also place points ('hotspots') on an image that directly link to the desired product page. This is not done in de image details, but by going to DAM > Media > Image Hotspots.
