Measuring Pinterest Ad Event Codes with Google Tag Manager
Pinterest event tracking allows you to monitor user interactions with the content on your webshop. To implement this, you can use Google Tag Manager (GTM) for easy and efficient tracking.
First, open the Google Tag Manager at tagmanager.google.com.
Step 1: Create a Pinterest Tag in GTM
- Select the container for your webshop.
- Click on Tags in the left sidebar, then click on the + New button to create a new tag.
- Give your tag a descriptive name, such as Pinterest Event Tag.
- Under Tag Configuration, select Pinterest from the tag type options.
- Configure the specific Pinterest event you want to track (e.g., Page Visit, Add to Basket, Checkout, etc.).
- Enter the necessary event details, such as the tag ID and parameters related to the event.
Step 2: Choose a Trigger
- After configuring your tag, click on Triggering.
- Click the + New button to create a new trigger.
- Choose the appropriate trigger type based on when you want the Pinterest event to fire (e.g., All Pages, Checkout Page, etc.).
- Configure the trigger settings as needed. For example, if you selected "Checkout Page," specify the conditions that define when a checkout page is reached.
Step 3: Save and Publish
- Click Save to save the trigger configuration.
- Return to the "Pinterest Event Tag" configuration.
- Under Tag Configuration, select the trigger you just created.
- Click Save to save the tag configuration.
- Review your changes and click Submit to publish the new container version.
Step 4: Test Your Setup
After publishing, it is essential to test your setup to ensure that Pinterest events are tracked correctly.
- Visit your webshop and perform the actions associated with the events you are tracking (e.g., add items to the basket, go through the checkout process).
- Use Pinterest's event validator tool or check your Pinterest Business account to confirm that events are being tracked accurately.
Step 5: Monitor and Analyze
- Once everything is set up and tested successfully, regularly monitor your Pinterest event data in Pinterest Analytics.
- Use the insights you gain to optimize your Pinterest marketing strategy and improve your webshop's performance. Remember to periodically review and update your tracking setup as your webshop evolves!
