Troubleshooting: Why Can a Discontinued Product Still be Ordered?

Even if the Allow Backorders setting of a shop has not been set, it may still be possible for shop visitors to order a product. This is the case when for that particular product, the Out of Assortment value in the product details is set to No.

To check:

  1. In the CloudSuite App go to Stores > Shops.
  2. Go to the Order Settings tab.
  3. Go to the subtab Stock and see if the box Allow Backorders is checked. If this box is blank, by default backorders are not allowed in the shop.

However, the Out of Assortment status for a product overrules this setting. If this is set to No, backorders for this product are allowed regardless of what is specified for the shop.
