Cost Rules & Delivery Services
Cost Rules and Delivery Services
Cost Rules let you automatically apply fees or discounts to orders based on conditions you define. These conditions can include a minimum order value, a specific payment method, or a customer type.
Delivery Services let your customers choose their preferred delivery option during checkout, such as express delivery or a nearby pick-up point.
Use case
A B2B wholesaler wants to charge a small fee for credit card payments, offer free shipping above a certain order value, and give customers the option to choose between home delivery and a pick-up point. All of this can be configured using Cost Rules and Delivery Services, without doing this manually for each order.
How it works
- Cost rules are applied when a customer adds products to their basket. A second check runs during checkout, after the customer enters their delivery address, to confirm all selected options are still valid.
- If a fee or surcharge applies, it is added to the order as a separate line item.
- If multiple delivery rules apply to products in the same basket, the system automatically uses the rule with the highest priority as the correct delivery method.
Flexibility
- Each webshop can have its own cost rules, or share rules across multiple shops.
- You can apply different cost rules to specific customers by using the Sale Type Substitution feature.
- Specific products, such as oversized items or gift cards, can have their own delivery service that overrides the standard rule.
Shop and product delivery services
When a product has its own delivery service, the cost rule decides how it works together with the shop delivery service. You can let the product service overrule the shop service, or compare the two and choose one per product. This keeps products with their own conditions, such as free shipping on gift cards, from getting the standard shipping cost.
Key capabilities
Cost Rules
- Apply fixed fees or percentage-based surcharges or discounts automatically based on order value or payment method.
- Calculate percentages on gross or net prices.
- Exclude discounted or sale items from percentage calculations.
- Display applicable fees on the product detail page for transparency.
Delivery Services
- Restrict delivery options based on country, region, postal code, order value, quantity, or weight and volume.
- Offer multiple delivery types:
- Express delivery: calculates options using carrier APIs and distance rules.
- Pick-up points: integrates with carriers such as DHL, Paazl, and Transsmart to show nearby locations. The selected location is saved as the shipping address.
- Pick up from outlet or wholesaler: displays your internal locations for customers to choose from.
- Pack station: prompts customers to enter their pack station details at checkout (Germany only).
- Dropshipment: allows customers to enter a separate delivery address at checkout.
- Link each delivery method to a carrier for track and trace, ERP export, and cost tracking.
- Show real-time delivery date options at checkout based on the customer's address and order time.
Dealer service points
If you sell through a network of dealers or service points, you can let customers choose a dealer during checkout. The webshop handles the order and the shipment, and the dealer takes care of local service and warranty. You choose whether picking a dealer is required or optional.
You turn this on with the Select Dealer in Basket option on the cost rule, and you add each dealer as a shop outlet of the type Dealer. Setting up the dealer map and styling it is front-end work, and the map needs a Google Maps API key.
Considerations
- To apply cost rules to quotations, the quotations feature must be activated.
- Due to the complexity of configuration, this feature should be set up with the help of a CloudSuite consultant. Contact your CloudSuite implementation partner to get started.
