Coupons and Discounts
Many retailers use coupon codes as part of their marketing efforts to offer one-time promotions or special campaigns. These codes allow customers to enjoy discounts, such as a percentage off their order or free shipping. Coupons are a great way to incentivize purchases, especially during holiday or seasonal promotions.
If you offer free delivery based on a minimum order amount, you can choose to include the coupon discount in that calculation. The customer will only get free delivery if their order total, after the discount, meets the required minimum amount.

Coupon Definition
For each new coupon, it is possible to define several parameters such as;
- how many times a coupon can be used per order
- how many times a coupon can be used per customer
- the fixed period when the coupon is valid (start and end date)
- the specific format in which the coupons can be generated (length, prefix, suffix)
Coupons are perfect for campaigns and targeted discounts. However, we would not recommend using them as a payment method like gift cards since there is no remaining balance after using the coupons.
Nowadays, many payment service providers offer gift cards as a payment method option integrated with your eCommerce shop.
Promotion Bundle Coupons
Promotion bundle coupons are a special type of coupons that can unlock a promotion bundle when entered at check-out. This way you can create targeted promotions by sharing these coupons only to a specific target group.
Product-Specific Coupons
Product-specific coupons allow you to offer discounts on selected items in the basket, instead of applying the discount to everything by default. You can choose between a percentage discount or a fixed amount.
If you want to give a discount on certain products or product groups, but only when a coupon is used, this option works perfectly. It's an ideal way to offer bundle promotions to a specific audience by issuing coupon codes.
How it Works
- Once the coupon is entered, the promotion is activated, and the discount is immediately visible in the basket. The discount only works if the basket contains (tagged) products from the selection promotion bundle.
- You can choose to create one generic code for your target group or generate unique codes. The bundle coupon can also be linked to multiple promotion bundles like "Buy Quantity in the mix" offers in the shopping basket.
