Default Product Fields
Product Codes
CloudSuite supports the following default product codes:
- EAN - European Article Number
- OEM - Original Equipment Manufacturer number
- Part numbers - To find (main) products for specific part numbers / codes
External Product Index
B2B customers sometimes prefer to search for products based on their own product information.
An external product index allows you to overrule default product numbers, descriptions, order quantities, and minimum order quantities with data from another source. This can be used for products, customers, customer categories, or a mixture of these. A separate API endpoint is available for managing the external product index functionality.
- Search for products using external product numbers is available when you add external codes to the products.
- Show an external product description for the product that overrules the standard description in the webshop.
- A (minimum) product order quantity can be used for a customer or customer category for whom you want to overrule the standard and minimum product order quantity in the webshop or for a specific product.
This feature is also available for login, to set specific product values for B2C shops or unregistered users.
Product Descriptions
The purpose of a product description is to supply customers with relevant and important information about the features and benefits of the product, in order for them to make a well-informed purchase.
Product descriptions can be either a simple description (informative) or a more persuasive description (commercial), depending on the type of webshop you have. CloudSuite offers multiple default fields for product descriptions, which can be expanded by using attributes.
Automated Product Descriptions
A useful feature is to automatically build up a product description from various product properties. Think of brand - product name - color.
Product Quotes
Product quotes are in fact short quotes or texts about products that are presented as “Quotes” on the Product Detail Page (PDP); for example, positive feedback from other buyers to convince your users to make a purchase.
Attributes
With product attributes, you can define the characteristics of your product. The definitions of attributes are completely free and used for:
- Enrichment of your product information
- Filtering products
- Distinguish between products within the same variant
- Grouping products based on an attribute (display all colors variants, but not all sizes on the Product Listing Page)
- Searching for products by attribute value
- Show other product variants on the Product Detail Page
The hierarchy of the attributes is Attribute Group > Attribute > Attribute value.
Integer Attributes
The system also supports integer and decimal values, which can be linked to a list value with a minimum and maximum.
Example: “Content: 100 – 200 L” includes products with the attribute Content: 100 L and Content: 200 L and every product with a value in between.
Another option is to create a product filter slider, so users can select a range on which to filter products.
In an eCommerce environment, the attributes are extremely important for navigating through your assortment. If your ERP system cannot deliver all attributes, you can easily maintain the attributes in the CloudSuite App.
